For the better part, Kenya’s climatic zones are typical of the tropics with its geographic features contributing significantly to the weather patterns experienced. This is despite the fact that Kenya straddles the equator. The climate is generally monsoonal with the NE & SE monsoons dominating.
The capital rises to an altitude of about 1700 m so the risk of succumbing to tropical disease is somewhat less in comparison to other parts of the country.
There are four distinct seasons:
